Executive Summary
Golden Gate Research is a proposed high-impact organization focused on building evaluation frameworks, behavioral metrics, and alignment benchmarks for algorithmic and AI systems that directly shape human cognition, behavior, and development.
The core thesis: as AI and algorithmic systems scale to mediate an increasing share of human experience, there is a critical and under-resourced need for independent, rigorous measurement of their impact on human wellbeing, autonomy, and higher-order functioning.
Organizational Structure
Golden Gate Research is designed as a hybrid entity: a nonprofit research arm conducting foundational research funded by grants and philanthropy, alongside a commercial entity developing certification, consulting, and compliance products.
The nonprofit research credibility legitimizes the commercial offerings; the commercial revenue sustains the research. Open methodology flows from research to commercial implementation. Proprietary scoring, dashboards, and compliance tools are built on open research foundations.
Three Tiers of Output
Tier I — Human Alignment Evaluation Framework: foundational research producing the Behavioral Risk Index, content analysis pipelines, simulated impact models, and physiological correlation studies.
Tier II — Certification & Compliance Layer: the Golden Gate Certification stamp for platforms and AI products, regulatory consulting for governments, and insurance/CSR compliance evaluations.
Tier III — Intervention & Incentive Infrastructure: balanced feed steering, credit systems and behavioral nudges, and the long-horizon vision of a human-endorsed algorithmic platform.
Near-Term Roadmap
0–6 months: Publish Evaluation Framework v0.1 white paper. Build content feed audit prototype. Produce simulated impact reports. Collect first-party qualitative survey data. Package consultation framework for institutional clients.
6–18 months: Pilot with a government regulatory body. Partnership with insurance or CSR compliance entity. Peer-reviewed publication. Generative classifier prototype for feed steering. University physiological correlation study.
What We Need
$500K–$1M seed funding enables: publishing the BRI v0.1 white paper, building the content feed audit prototype, recruiting advisory board members, executing pilot consultations, establishing nonprofit and commercial entities, and producing the first simulated impact reports.
Additional needs: compute resources for classifier training, 5–7 advisory board members across policy, AI safety, behavioral science, and platform experience, university research partnerships, and introductions to regulatory/legislative offices for pilot discussions.
Long-Term Vision
The name is intentional. The Golden Gate is a threshold — you cross it and something is verified, certified, aligned. The long-term vision is to become the independent standard-setting body for human-alignment evaluation across all algorithmic and AI systems that interact with human cognition and behavior at scale.
AI and large-scale systems should work in the favor of human development. That is the mandate. The research, the tools, the certifications, and the partnerships all serve that singular purpose.
